Shawna and Mike

27 10 2009

There is something about fall and being with your loved during the cooling color changing season.  I think it has to do with all of the snuggling up that I love so much.  I’m definitely a snuggler and a snoozer for that matter.  When the weather gets colder, I’m like a bear who needs to go into hibernation.  There’s no waking up until it’s time to eat.  :) Eat, snuggle, and sleep should be my personal motto for the next 6 months.

Sunday was spent with Shawna and Mike at Grotto Park.  They were so cute and snuggly together.  The park was full of color and I always love the stream running through it.  Shawna kept making me laugh because she couldn’t look at Mike without giggling.  I get such a kick out of things like that.  Nonetheless they are such a sweet couple and I enjoyed capturing the silly little cuddly moments with them.

Costumes and Tattoos

26 10 2009

Califf and I spent our Saturday evening with our neighbors, Geoff and Gina.  A couple times a year, they have a tattoo party with tattoo artist Gerald from Stigma Tattoos.  They spiced things up this year with a costume party in light of Halloween.  So I brought my equipment and had a mini photo session with everyone who came and everyone who got tattoos.  Needless to say it was a fun night had by all.

Engaged: Andrea and Ron

22 10 2009

I met Andrea and Ron back in the early spring to discuss the details of their Ohio wedding next fall.  It pretty much will be next year to the month since they will be marrying next October.   Both Andrea and Ron both work at the veterinary clinic in which both Mody and Chewy go to, so it’s nice to see familiar faces.

This past Sunday we met at the studio for their engagement session and had a chance to get around for a variety of shots.  What a sweet and kind hearted couple to work with.  You just can’t ask for anything more.

I can’t wait to see you guys in Toledo next fall!!

Wedding: Katie and Corey 10-10-09

22 10 2009

I know.  I know.  I’m a little behind with the blogging but nonetheless, I am blogging.   That’s right.  I’m taking you back to the 10th of October where it began at the quaint little Olivet Reformed Church where Katie was oh so anxiously waiting to see her husband to be.  She looked so lovely in her beautiful gown.

Before the ceremony, they wanted to meet each other in the chapel.  As Katie approached with emotion to her soon to be husband, Corey, was smiling from ear to ear at how beautiful Katie looked that day.  Shortly after, their daughters Zooey and Riley  joined Mom and Dad in the room.  What a beautiful family!  And what a fun family.  They were laughing and snuggling with each other.

When the ceremony began, Zooey, couldn’t be without her mom, so Katie graciously held on to her darling little flower girl as she walked down the aisle and throughout the entire ceremony.  It certainly didn’t stop Katie and Corey exchanging their vows.

Afterwards, the newlyweds headed over to Wedgewood Park for some outdoor shots.   The colorful trees was a beautiful backdrop as the bride and groom snuggled closely in the cold outdoors.  Then it was  a quick trip to the reception where the real party began.  They had party horns for the guests while the bridal party entered the room with there glow in the dark glasses and their glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces.  It truly was  a fun loving day for Katie and Corey and I was so blessed to be a part of it.  Congratulations to you both!!

The John Family

9 10 2009

I have been very fortunate to have wonderful neighbors since I’ve moved to the north side of town 6 years ago.  Geoff and Gina have been no exception.  They are fun loving people whose large family keeps them on their toes.  Don’t get me wrong.  They maybe busy people but they make time for themselves and know how to let their hair down.  Every summer is has been always been a great opportunity to hang out in the back yard until the wee hours of the night playing “Cornhole”.  Of course my husband has been mostly an active player than myself.  I’m usually a side liner always provoking other activity.

When I mentioned that Geoff and Gina have a large family, I wasn’t kidding.  Between the both of them they have 6 kids!!  Yeah, I said it 6 kids!!!  Doesn’t Gina look amazing?!!  Of course she didn’t have all six children but she  still looks fantastic.  They are no Jon and Kate but more like Brady Bunch but with one boy, and amazingly they all get along pretty well.  Meeting with them on Sunday was nothing short of entertaining.  It was great for the kids to just be themselves and several times I caught Geoff questioning himself like, “Why did I bring them here?”  No worries, Geoff.  They were great!!  I love you guys and I’m so grateful to have you as neighbors.

The Hulbert Boys

28 09 2009

Friday morning began at Townsend Park.  If I have not said this before, I will say it again.  Townsend Park is one of my favorite parks in the whole wide world.  I have so many memories there growing up, and as a photographer, I continue to have more memories there.  When I arrived I noticed the renovation in front of the pavilion.  It looked nice and safe.  It used to be an uneven walk up a hill with a stones in the ground.  Now it is leveled out with a stair case and beautiful landscaping surrounding the open structure.  With the fall leaves already descending to the ground, the scene was no more than picturesque.

My session Friday morning began with two handsome little guys, Gavin and Ethan.  They were everywhere and everywhere.  They are the reason why God made parks, so photographers, like myself, can chase little boys around with a camera in hand screaming, “Look over here! Smile!!”  They always think I’m crazy.  I have to bribe them with Krispy Treats, race them to see who can beet me, get them to take leaves out of my hand, and I love it!  I do this because I’m making memories not just for myself but for someone else.  I get the opportunity to make someone else’s memory because soon they won’t be interested to take leaves out of your hand, they’ll take the keys to your car.  You can’t bribe them with sweet confections.  You have to bribe them with money.  And dreadfully, instead of chasing each other, they’ll be chasing girls! (Yikes)

That Friday morning, I had an opportunity to make a memory with Gavin and Ethan.

Brenda’s Bump

28 09 2009

Aside from photographing a special wedding with my father-in-law, the next day I had a special session scheduled with my best friend, Brenda and her husband, Joel.  The anticipation has been overwhelming since they will be expecting their first born this early November.  My Cubana Frijoles is having a little Bean and this bean is going to be a baby girl.

Brenda is my most comical of all of my girlfriends and her and I always have a riot when it comes to joking around.  Between the both of us, we are like a ham and cheese sandwich.  Joel is just a side Macaroni and Cheese.  She has a great sense of style.  She is very big about family.  She’s blunt.  And like me, she will take off her earrings and bust out in an angry dance off…or maybe that’s just me.  Beyond all of the jokes, the giggling, and the rolling laughs, I am honored to be a part of her life and her experience into motherhood.

Wedding: Randy and Carol 9-19-09

28 09 2009

Back in July, my husband and I arrived at my father-in-law’s house because he had “something to tell us”.  I immediately thought he got his girlfriend pregnant which raised many questions.  How are they planning to support the child?  Will this child start working at the age of five or will he/she go off and receive a decent education?  Most importantly will this child be a State fan or Michigan fan?  But all of those important questions came to a halt when they announced that Carol and himself will be getting married this September.  It was very exciting for me so I began listing vendor names and sending emails on ideas on what to wear.  I turned into a mother overbearing her daughter’s wedding day.  And Carol very humbly replied, “Thank you, Jesamin, but I already have an idea what I’m going to wear.”  I absolutely adore Carol.  My husband and I as well as my husbands siblings are very happy to have her as part of the family.  Good work Randy!!

I would love to say that everything went smoothly on September 19th, but when it was almost time to “walk” down the aisle, Carol realized something was missing.  Seriously something was missing, but before I tell you what was missing I’m going to rewind a little bit.  My father-in-law is a motorcycle rider.  He proudly sports a bright orange Honda Shadow in which he had triked out(meaning there’s 3 wheels, not 2).  Really it’s a beautiful bike.  I don’t care what you Harley riders say.  Because they enjoy riding together so much, Carol wanted to be delivered to the aisle on the bike.  It really was a fantastic idea.

About fifteen minutes before the ceremony was to begin, Carol realized she did not have her flowers.  As a matter of fact, she forgot to pick them up in the midst of getting her hair done and getting ready altogether.  It’s generally not on your top wedding reminders as you are getting ready for your big day.  Believe me I know.   Her pseudo dad, Charlie, even left to retrieve them, but what ended up to be a 10 minute errand turned into a half an hour construction mess.  Worry began to sink in as Randy and Carol had considered to go ahead and start without the flowers and without the dad.  But the other problem was that she still couldn’t come down on the bike because Dad had the keys to the motorcycle, but low and behold, just as we were about to start, Dad arrived.  The ceremony proceeded and still with no flowers.  Who needs them anyway, right?

Nonetheless,  it was a beautiful day surrounded by friends, family, and most importantly, each other.  And that is all you can really ask for when you begin your new life together…just don’t forget to pick-up some flowers!

Carly 2010

16 09 2009

A 2010 high school senior from Kenowa Hills High School, Carly is another who leaves a lasting impression on me.  After having spoken with Carly, I learned that since the sixth grade, Carly has played the violin and wanted to incorporate her love for music within her session.  As we wandered to several spots downtown and fighting the wind, we ended our session in the lobby of the Amway, where we were able to include her beloved violin and had the chance to experience her talent first hand.

Carly’s plans after high school is possibly attending University of Michigan, which she is already favored by my husband since it’s his favorite college.  She enjoys reading and writing and hopes to study nano technology.  Nano technology?!  I asked her what that was and she explained that its molecular science.  Talk about brains!  I remember when I was in high school I loved Physics.  Really, I just loved watching things blow up.

Sinquefield Family

16 09 2009

I love to chase monkeys.  That was Andrew on Sunday morning when Travis and Natalie brought their little family into the studio.  Boy oh boy was he everywhere.  I love it because that means I have more to work with.  Then there was sweet little Emily.  I just wanted to kiss her sweet little face.  At only 3 months, she was definitely at the other end of the spectrum, but how should she be at that age?  Of course she isn’t going far.  Silly me.  Nonetheless, it was such a pleasure to photograph this family who keeps you on your toes. :) )
