Back in July, my husband and I arrived at my father-in-law’s house because he had “something to tell us”. I immediately thought he got his girlfriend pregnant which raised many questions. How are they planning to support the child? Will this child start working at the age of five or will he/she go off and receive a decent education? Most importantly will this child be a State fan or Michigan fan? But all of those important questions came to a halt when they announced that Carol and himself will be getting married this September. It was very exciting for me so I began listing vendor names and sending emails on ideas on what to wear. I turned into a mother overbearing her daughter’s wedding day. And Carol very humbly replied, “Thank you, Jesamin, but I already have an idea what I’m going to wear.” I absolutely adore Carol. My husband and I as well as my husbands siblings are very happy to have her as part of the family. Good work Randy!!
I would love to say that everything went smoothly on September 19th, but when it was almost time to “walk” down the aisle, Carol realized something was missing. Seriously something was missing, but before I tell you what was missing I’m going to rewind a little bit. My father-in-law is a motorcycle rider. He proudly sports a bright orange Honda Shadow in which he had triked out(meaning there’s 3 wheels, not 2). Really it’s a beautiful bike. I don’t care what you Harley riders say. Because they enjoy riding together so much, Carol wanted to be delivered to the aisle on the bike. It really was a fantastic idea.
About fifteen minutes before the ceremony was to begin, Carol realized she did not have her flowers. As a matter of fact, she forgot to pick them up in the midst of getting her hair done and getting ready altogether. It’s generally not on your top wedding reminders as you are getting ready for your big day. Believe me I know. Her pseudo dad, Charlie, even left to retrieve them, but what ended up to be a 10 minute errand turned into a half an hour construction mess. Worry began to sink in as Randy and Carol had considered to go ahead and start without the flowers and without the dad. But the other problem was that she still couldn’t come down on the bike because Dad had the keys to the motorcycle, but low and behold, just as we were about to start, Dad arrived. The ceremony proceeded and still with no flowers. Who needs them anyway, right?
Nonetheless, it was a beautiful day surrounded by friends, family, and most importantly, each other. And that is all you can really ask for when you begin your new life together…just don’t forget to pick-up some flowers!
