Kids: Isaac, Norah, and Ari

Some of my favorite kids are back again for their annual session.  Isaac who is 9, Norah who is 5, and Ari who is the ripe old age of 2.  I love seeing these cute little monkey faces.  What’s so amusing is that they usually come off as not wanting to have their picture taken but they like it when I photograph them.  They don’t fool me one bit.  However, Ari is one care free little man.  He doesn’t care if I’m here or there…of course, he is two.

It just brings me such joy to photograph friends and their loved ones because I get to be a significant person in their lives and my goal (at least one of them, other than kissing Hugh Jackman on the mouth) is to have a significant place in this world, and my job gives me plenty of opportunities to be that kind of person and have that kind of place.

Thank you, Janet and Chris, for letting me photograph your wonderful joys!

Wedding: Sonisa and Dave 3-13-10

The first  Saturday after my trip home from Vegas, I arrived at Watermark Country Club’s The Grill for a small and intimate wedding of Dave and Sonisa.  What was so great about this event was not only did they have about 40 of their closet friends and family but Sonisa’s darling little girls, Sylvia, Cecelia, and Olivia, were very much apart of the ceremony as both Sonisa, Dave, and their three girls took turns pouring sand in a lovely glass vase with all of their names etched on.  The ceremony was held inside the venue and was ordained with Amie Kenyon from  A Wedding Minister For You.  It was so lovely and so very sweet.

It’s not hard to figure out there is still a little rebel in Sonisa while she’s rockin’ a green gown and going barefoot and happy down the aisle.  She looked amazing and she looked so very happy.  What made this day so great and so perfect for Sonisa and Dave was not the chance of sitting with them at the “head” table (which is a wedding first for me), but the joy they really share for each other.

Mr. and Mrs. Martin, thank you for having me be the person to capture a very special day in your lives.  It truly was an honor.  It was also an honor to set next to you guys during dinner.  Your mugs were sweet!! :) )  I hope you both had a fantastic time in Mexico and worked on those tans!  LOVE.

Dye-Zimmer Family

Saturday was a wonderful morning for a family session down by the park.   Four generations of family coming together and expressing how wonderful, beautiful, and special their family really is.  The little ones are such hams and it so fun to watch them grow.  I have been photographing them for several years now and it amazes me to see the changes in them and watching their personalities develop.  I remind myself all the time that children teach you what it means to have a good sense of humor.  If we weren’t able to laugh the little things off, we would be taking life way to seriously.

Ari and Norah.

I met with Ari and Norah Saturday afternoon at Aquinas College for Ari’s 1 year old pics and Norah’s 4 years old pics.  I have photographed Norah since she was a baby so I am always excited about photographing her only to see how big she is getting.  It’s also very clear to me of what a little person she is turning into.  She undoubtedly loves her brothers and she’s definitely daddy’s little girl.  She picked out the boots she was planning on wearing for pictures and was happy to sit on everything insight.  4 years old is such a funny age because it’s clear when you are outside and the weather is beautiful with so much to look at, the interest of having your picture taken goes away after 5 minutes.

As far as little Ari goes,  his smile is so contagious for me.  For being 1 year old, he is so expressive and clearly so happy.  I love that.  There is something about little children smiling back at you that makes it hard to resist to not smile right back.

Sweet Girls

I had a photo session with my girlfriend’s two nieces, Yamilet and Cassandra.

Both of these girls have an opposite end of the spectrum kind of personality.  Yamilet is chatty, energetic, and silly, while Cassandra is shy, quiet, and reserved.

But both girls together are just as sweet as can be and both are absolutely stinkin’ pretty.  I can’t even get over it.

We headed out to Riverside Park for an outdoor session underneath the willow trees and next to the river.

I was a little concerned on how the weather would be earlier this afternoon but needless to say the weather just happen to work in our favor.

The images from this session came out stunning and they won’t need their yearbook pictures after all.

The Carpenter's Three.

At least once a year, my loyal clients, Janet and Chris, call me to photograph their children.  This year they had a new addition to their family, Ari.

So clearly the portrait update was necessary.

I love photographing their children because they just have the best smiles, especially now while they are going through tooth fairy season and waiting for those adult chompers to come in.

And really, their kids just make me laugh.  When Isaac and Norah are together they always do something they are not supposed to.

Although, this particular session they were much more laid back then usual.
