Kids: Sienna and Ava

Could these two girls be any cuter?!  I met Sienna and Ava at Grotto Park for some fall fun and they are way too cute for their own good.

When I shoot young toddlers and infants, I generally get this look from the child that pretty much tells me “What’s in your hand?  And why is it pointing at me?”  Then, there is something much more amusing laying on the ground, such as a leaf or ball or rock and suddenly the curiosity strikes and ….Oh!!  It’s in their mouth.  However this time it went a little like that except for the all the curiosity.  As a matter of fact, we were wondering where the curiosity went, which left me and Mom confused.  Turns out little Ava, the youngest of the two, ended up with an ear infection.  There just was no leaving her because she was trying to tell mom she wasn’t feeling good.  Instead, we thought a handful of animal crackers would help this very upset little girl to smile.

Luckily, by the look of the images you would never have guessed little Ava wasn’t feeling too well.  Big sister, Sienna, didn’t mind lookin’ all cute and silly for the camera.  I’m just glad that baby Ava is feeling better and aside from, what seemed like, her fussiness she still was able to pull through on some super adorableness.

Hello Stranger.

This little guy tried following me in the house the other day.  He sort of freaked me out and started climbing up the wall in my garage.  I did notice he had a bum eye which lead me to suspect he got into a brawl so I gave him some walnuts and left him.

2009 High School Senior Rep

Shane is another Class of 2009 High School Senior from East Kentwood High School.  Our session yesterday began at the studio and later, outdoors over in the East Fulton area for some urban shots in the snow.  It was certainly chilly outside but Shane was such a great sport and his session turned out amazing.

He enjoys playing soccer and is active in his high school Theatre Program.  His plans for fall are to attend Grand Rapids Community College and enroll in their Law Enforcement Program and later tranfer to Grand Valley to finish up at their Police Academy.

9-20-08 Suggate Wedding

What a beautiful day for Alice and Jeremy to get married.

Their wedding took place at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Jenison. This church was beautiful because the sky lights located on top of the alter were stained glass and depending on the time of day the sun was positioned the light from the stain glass would shift throughout the back of the alter.

It was the perfect background to a wonderful wedding.  Alice and Jeremy were so sweet and nice.  I personally loved Alice’s laugh.

It just makes you want to smile when you here it.

The schedule for this day was so laid back and relaxed.

It was my first wedding where I really felt like I could take my time with all of my shots and set ups as well as get a chance to chat with the bridal party.  They were so friendly and sweet which made my job that much more fun.

Sweet Girls

I had a photo session with my girlfriend’s two nieces, Yamilet and Cassandra.

Both of these girls have an opposite end of the spectrum kind of personality.  Yamilet is chatty, energetic, and silly, while Cassandra is shy, quiet, and reserved.

But both girls together are just as sweet as can be and both are absolutely stinkin’ pretty.  I can’t even get over it.

We headed out to Riverside Park for an outdoor session underneath the willow trees and next to the river.

I was a little concerned on how the weather would be earlier this afternoon but needless to say the weather just happen to work in our favor.

The images from this session came out stunning and they won’t need their yearbook pictures after all.

An afternoon well spent.

One of my favorite things to do in the summer time is river tubing, particularly down Muskegon River.  I especially love going during those dog days of summer when it’s so hot you can’t even stand to really be outside.  There is something about having your butt sit in fresh cold water while the sun beats down on your skin and you’re thirsting your quench with a nice cold beer that I find the experience to be as close to being spiritual as going to church regularly and religiously every Sunday.  My girlfriends and I had a day planned in August to make our way towards Newaygo and enjoy our little trip down the river.

Unfortunately, it was only 70 degrees outside which was far too cold to be floating lazily upon 60 something degrees of water.  Instead, we made a little day trip to Saugatuck and ended up spending our afternoon having lunch out on the patio and people watching at the park.

I will say this.  There is something about spending time with my girls that make any activity worth doing and worth missing.
